Certificate of Need Publications (PDF)

The Certificate of Need (CON) program is a regulatory process that requires certain health care providers to obtain state approval before offering certain new or expanded services. The CON program currently regulates hospices, skilled nursing facilities, intermediate care facilities for the developmentally disabled, new hospitals and certain hospital services. Publications are posted on the Certificate of Need website for download.

Electronic Prescribing Report (PDF)

This report provides an update on the status of electronic prescribing in Florida. It includes a review of Agency activities to accelerate adoption, e-prescribing metrics by state and region, and recommendations from the State Electronic Prescribing Advisory Panel.

Emergency Department Utilization Report (PDF)

This report summarizes Emergency Department (ED) utilization data to provide demographic characteristics of visits to the ED and information on patient acuity level and costs. Information is also provided on ED utilization that results in an inpatient hospitalization.

Medicare Spending at U.S. Hospitals

Kaiser Health News releases an interactive tool to show how much the federal program spends for the average patient admitted at a specific hospital, compared to how much Medicare spends per patient nationally. This measure includes all payments to doctors, hospitals or other facilities for services provided to a patient during the three days before the hospital stay, during the stay, and during the 30 days after discharge from the hospital.
